bop-sewing2014-sqHandcraft Workshop offers a wide variety of kid and adult sewing classes.  From the very beginner to the very advanced, there's a class for everybody!  If you're a beginner or haven't sewn awhile in need a refresher, Sewing 101 is the perfect class for you.  From there, you'll find project based classes of varying skill levels, skill classes that focus on particular techniques, serger classes, and more.  Experienced sewist can start with a project class that interests them and matches their skill level.

Skill Level Recommendations

Newbie: No experience necessary  |  Beginner: Taken Sewing 101 or equivalent
Intermediate: Ready for some serious sewing  | Advanced: Could teach a class or two!
(Kids classes are intended for students aged 8-15.  Adult classes are intended for students aged 16+.)

Kids’ Pajama Pants

March 25 @ 11:00 am - 1:30 pm

Kids will make their own comfy pair of Pj’s during this class and learn how to use a pattern. Materials: Requires 2.75 yards of cotton fabric, 1 to 1.5 yards of 3/4” wide elastic, and coordinating thread.  Pattern included. Skill Level: Beginner Prerequisites: Sewing 101 or equivalent experience.

Open Sew

Come sew with other sewists in our classroom space.  Fee allows the use of sewing machines, sergers, cutting tables, irons, and sewing tools.  Prior sewing experience is required.  No instruction in provided. Materials: None Skill Level: Beginner Prerequisites: Sewing 101, Serger 101, or equivalent experience. Please note: Not available for online purchase. Please pay $10 fee in-person at event. This dress has a scoop neck or cowl neck, in-seam pockets, sleeves and elastic waist. Easy and elegant. Sewing Machine Maintenance

Bring your own sewing machine and user manual to the shop to learn basic machine maintenance, cleaning, and troubleshooting.  Sorry but this is not a repair class!  Note: This is an all ages class. Materials: Bring your own sewing machine, foot pedal, and manual. Prerequisites: Sewing 101 or equivalent experience.

Kids’ Sewing 101: 3-week series

April 1 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

This is the perfect class for kids that are eager to start sewing!  In just three sessions, they’ll learn all of the basic machine sewing skills and how to cut and pin while having fun making a pillowcase, a reversible tote bag, and a zipper pencil case.
